I was free
The baby wanted to crawl out of the room.
mum said “yes, you can!”
I crawled free.
The young girl wanted to wear the short bermuda
that Annie wore when she was 10.
Dad said “girl, you are free”
Tandoori chicken at kim’s kitchen,
and I wondered what would some meat be like.
A voice said “Woman, it’s yummy. choose food, choose free will, have a bite”
I gave up prejudice.
I gave up dogma.
I gave up rotten beliefs. A lot of them, real freedom, I thought.
I was free! I was me, I thought.
I was dead.
